Cernavoda's Daniel Bădulescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nechifor Zbanţ in the 5th minute of play. After 6 played minutes Zsombolya AS got a freekick which was hit by Nechifor Zbanţ. Daniel Bădulescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gabriel Vulturar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Marcu Văduva received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Manuel Isăilă tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 13 minutes, Iosif Spiru managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cernavoda's supporters crossed their fingers, but Iosif Spiru was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 15 minutes, Nechifor Zbanţ mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Zsombolya AS and the Cernavoda players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 15th match minute, Zsombolya AS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nechifor Zbanţ to maneuver through the defense. When Mugurel Arșanu fell near the penalty area in the 16th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Zsombolya AS's protests and gave Mugurel Arșanu a yellow card for diving instead. Mugurel Arșanu kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. Zsombolya AS's Manuel Isăilă played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eduard Neacșu in the 21st minute of play. 23 minutes into the game, Tudor Năsturel was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Zsombolya AS's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cernavoda the free kick. After 24 played minutes Zsombolya AS got a freekick which was hit by Tudor Năsturel. Iosif Spiru sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In a very dangerous position, a player in Cernavoda fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 43rd minute. Penalty! After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Daniel Bădulescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nechifor Zbanţ, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Zsombolya AS's Nechifor Zbanţ slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Daniel Bădulescu. That made the score 0-1 after 61 minutes of play. 66 minutes into the match, Cernavoda's Gelu Flamaropol broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Manuel Isăilă made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Iosif Spiru in the 74th minute of play. Marcu Văduva hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. Iulian Sava could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 77th minute of the match, but Daniel Bădulescu made a huge save. In the 78th minute, Aristide Dominte hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, Cernavoda's Daniel Bădulescu got control of the ball when Gabriel Vulturar tried to sneak it across the goal line. Cernavoda's Daniel Bădulescu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 81st minute of the match, managed to save Cernavoda from getting a goal against them. In the 82nd minute of the match, Gabriel Vulturar got a very nice opportunity to score, but Daniel Bădulescu was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Eduard Neacșu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manuel Isăilă having to interfere. In the 86th minute, Tudor Năsturel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nechifor Zbanţ in the 91st minute of play forced Cernavoda's goalkeeper Daniel Bădulescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Zsombolya AS supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Zsombolya AS would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
