Călin Bârsan helped the player get up and apologised. When Iustinian Hizo fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Los Angeles's protests and gave Iustinian Hizo a yellow card for diving instead. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 19th minute of the game. One of FC Los Angeles:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Cernavoda:s goal. FC Los Angeles:s Călin Drăgoescu showed great skill when he stopped Marcu Văduva:s penalty. 23 minutes into the match, Cernavoda's goal looked a bit too open when Cătălin Jităreanu came free, but Daniel Bădulescu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Iosif Spiru fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Călin Drăgoescu having to interfere. Daniel Bădulescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cătălin Jităreanu in the 34th minute of play. After some careless play in the Cernavoda defense, Călin Bârsan kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Daniel Bădulescu. The Cernavoda fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Daniel Bădulescu should have stopped the shot. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Călin Bârsan made a kick off. When Denis Tilincă fell near the penalty area in the 51st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. FC Los Angeles's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
