Toader Fetea received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Virgil Berevoescu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Martin Oneț blasted a shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Virgil Berevoescu having to make a save. In the 13th minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Petrolul Ploiesti's goalkeeper Nae Mutu, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Setu AC's Virgil Berevoescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Martin Oneț in the 16th minute of play. Augustin Spirea received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Nae Mutu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Martin Oneț's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Virgil Berevoescu was relentless in the 27th minute of the game. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Martin Oneț in the 30th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Virgil Berevoescu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Virgil Berevoescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Martin Oneț in the 31st minute of play. When Ion Dindelegan fell near the penalty area in the 32nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Setu AC's protests and gave Ion Dindelegan a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Setu AC's Ion Dindelegan got a free kick in the 32nd minute. The long shot by Tiberiu Păuceanu in the 33rd minute really tested Virgil Berevoescu's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. After a defensive mix-up in FC Petrolul Ploiesti's zone, Victor Stroescu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nae Mutu came out of the goal and Victor Stroescu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Virgil Berevoescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aron Spineanu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gavril Şimoc during the 52nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Augustin Spirea received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Nae Mutu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Augustin Spirea in the 66th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nae Mutu saved FC Petrolul Ploiesti from getting behind. If Victor Stroescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Augustin Spirea's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nae Mutu was relentless in the 69th minute of the game. If Victor Stroescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Through an outstanding action, after 73 minutes, Nae Mutu successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. When Victor Stroescu came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Setu AC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Victor Stroescu couldn't finish the play. Martin Oneț recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 92nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The Setu AC players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented FC Petrolul Ploiesti from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
