If Eliodor Călimanescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Borussia Dortmund's Mugurel Sbârcea got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Mugurel Sbârcea made a kick off. 56 minutes into the match, Borussia Dortmund's goal looked a bit too open when Sever Ionășescu came free, but David Petrea reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Iordache Hurdubețiu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 59th minute of the match, but Thaddeus Routhier made a huge save.
