Cornel Cernescu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Horia Beșleaga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cornel Cernescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Horia Beșleaga having to interfere. In the 19th minute, Cazimir Rogozanu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Costică Firea sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Costică Firea came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the FCSB fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Costică Firea couldn't finish the play. In the 34th minute, Alex Grămescu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 35th minute of the match Petrică Pancu sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Horia Beșleaga skillfully saved the ball. If Cornel Cernescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Cornel Cernescu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pirjolesti's supporters rose to their feet, but Cornel Cernescu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Horia Beșleaga breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Dragoş Budulea struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Pavel Bălcescu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FCSB. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

A collision led to FCSB getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Emanuel Rusu hit a great ball. Pirjolesti were awarded a corner in the 54th minute after FCSB's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Petrică Pancu took the corner. After taking down the ball on Pirjolesti's corner Paul Zbughină fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Horia Beșleaga quite easily take care of the ball. Pavel Bălcescu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Costică Firea in the 64th minute of the match. Costică Firea fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pavel Bălcescu having to interfere. If Dragoş Budulea had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Pavel Bălcescu came out of the goal in the 72nd minute to try and stop a shot by FCSB's Costică Firea. But to his dismay, Costică Firea quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Pavel Bălcescu stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Costică Firea's shot from short distance in the 76th minute. In the 77th match minute, Pirjolesti was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Șerban Unchiaşu to maneuver through the defense. In the 79th minute, Romeo Almăgean hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Pirjolesti's Cornel Cernescu got a good chance for a goal in the 82nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cazimir Rogozanu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Pavel Bălcescu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A very good chance. FCSB's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
