Spectators: 7309 (Terracing: 5594, Seating: 1715, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Valer Craia took the kick off in the first half of the match. Inter Pitesti's Valer Craia got a good chance for a goal in the 4th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Florin Manu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Basarab Zogreanu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Costel Decuseară received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Doru Țepelea tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 22 minutes into the match, Inter Pitesti's goal looked a bit too open when Gabriel Pârvuță came free, but Doru Țepelea reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 22nd match minute, Inter Pitesti was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mihăiţă Niculiță to maneuver through the defense. In the 24th minute, Costel Decuseară made a precise shot to the right of Doru Țepelea. Inter Pitesti's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. After a rather tough play, Inter Pitesti's Tudor Armeanca got a free kick in the 27th minute. In the 34th minute, one of Inter Pitesti:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Inter Pitesti. Inter Pitesti's Doru Țepelea played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Costel Decuseară in the 42nd minute of play. Doru Țepelea stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gabriel Pârvuță's shot from short distance in the 45th minute. Costel Decuseară recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 48th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Costel Decuseară stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Florin Manu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Florin Manu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 75 minutes had been played when some careless play by Steagu's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Nechifor Cănănău was slow to take the kick. During this time Inter Pitesti's players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on Inter Pitesti's corner Nechifor Cănănău fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Basarab Zogreanu quite easily take care of the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Steagu's zone, Florin Manu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Basarab Zogreanu came out of the goal and Florin Manu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Vasile Pociu kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. Valer Craia charged in rather forcefully in the 86th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Valer Craia the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 90th minute Costel Decuseară shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Doru Țepelea saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Sebastian Tătăruşanu fell near the penalty area in the 94th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Inter Pitesti's protests and gave Sebastian Tătăruşanu a yellow card for diving instead. The corner led to Steagu's Dinu Oprescu getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Steagu eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
