Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Cătălin Țepelea kicked off to start the match. Gică Bornescu was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Narcis Pantelimon showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 23 minute of play. Gică Bornescu came out of the goal and Călin Braru tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 41st play minute Călin Braru came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Gică Bornescu. 2-0. After 46 played minutes, Stefanestii's Sorin Ghionaru shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Gică Bornescu came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Stefanestii reached it. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Narcis Pantelimon to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Narcis Pantelimon in the 54th minute of play forced Fc Poli Unirea Iasi's goalkeeper Gică Bornescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 55 minutes, Emil Mitrea mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Fc Poli Unirea Iasi and the Stefanestii players grew even worse after the yellow card. Stefanestii's supporters rose to their feet, but Călin Braru was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gică Bornescu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Călin Braru had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Narcis Pantelimon's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gică Bornescu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 72nd minute of play. After a rather tough play, Fc Poli Unirea Iasi's Panait Angheluță got a free kick in the 74th minute. Gică Bornescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Călin Braru, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sorin Ghionaru kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. Fc Poli Unirea Iasi's Sever Lung got a good chance for a goal in the 84th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Ionuț Stroie fell near the penalty area in the 85th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Stefanestii's protests and gave Ionuț Stroie a yellow card for diving instead. In the 85th minute, Ionuț Stroie hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Cătălin Țepelea fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cornel Bălace having to interfere.
