Octav Cicortaș might have been able to make a better finish in the 19th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sandu Codrea. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Octav Cicortaș ran back to his position shaking his head. The audience was convinced that Cătălin Frântu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sandu Codrea was relentless in the 21st minute of the game. In the 23rdth minute of the game Eduard Harnagea who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Izbicioara's Maxim Vaştag was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpected shot in the 29th minute by Eduard Harnagea got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adrian Chitoran in the 31st minute of play forced Izbicioara's goalkeeper Maxim Vaştag to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Izbicioara getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Nae Zamfirescu hit a great ball. Red Bull CLUJ's Matei Floruțiu got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.

Izbicioara's Maxim Vaştag played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eduard Harnagea in the 63rd minute of play. Sandu Codrea took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cătălin Frântu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Matei Floruțiu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 67th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Eduard Harnagea had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 70 minutes into the match, Red Bull CLUJ's Eduard Harnagea sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Maxim Vaştag narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Izbicioara's Maxim Vaştag played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eduard Harnagea in the 76th minute of play. 79 minutes into the match, Izbicioara's goal looked a bit too open when Eduard Harnagea came free, but Maxim Vaştag reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Red Bull CLUJ players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
