After a defensive mix-up in California's zone, Emanuel Ţăranu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Octavian Ţopescu came out of the goal and Emanuel Ţăranu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 7 minutes into the match, Răzvan Ailenei notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Santimbru FC's Virgil Huidu. Virgil Huidu was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Octavian Ţopescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emanuel Ţăranu in the 10th minute of play. In the 12th minute Emanuel Ţăranu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Octavian Ţopescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Iustinian Datcu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Octavian Ţopescu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Octavian Ţopescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Iustinian Datcu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to California getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Iurie Vasilescu hit a great ball. Emanuel Ţăranu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Octavian Ţopescu having to interfere. Ion Ailenei charged in rather forcefully in the 26th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ion Ailenei the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 27th minute, Ion Ailenei hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Răzvan Ailenei received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Virgil Huidu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 32 minutes into the match, Santimbru FC's goalkeeper Virgil Huidu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dorel Bosânceanu. Santimbru FC's Emanuel Ţăranu got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the match clock showed 47 minutes, the score became 2-1 when Nistor Popete sped through California's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Octavian Ţopescu. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

After a rather tough play, California's Iurie Vasilescu got a free kick in the 53rd minute. When Nistor Popete fell near the penalty area in the 56th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Santimbru FC's protests and gave Nistor Popete a yellow card for diving instead. In the 56th minute, Nistor Popete hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. California's Octavian Ţopescu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 58th minute of the match, managed to save California from getting a goal against them. Răzvan Ailenei fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Virgil Huidu having to interfere. In the 64th minute, Gică Săvulescu made a precise shot to the right of Virgil Huidu. Santimbru FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Răzvan Ailenei in the 71st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Virgil Huidu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Gică Săvulescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Virgil Huidu having to interfere. If Emanuel Ţăranu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, California's Octavian Ţopescu got control of the ball when Emanuel Ţăranu tried to sneak it across the goal line. 83 minutes into the game, Răzvan Ailenei cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-1. Virgil Huidu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Gică Săvulescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Virgil Huidu having to interfere. Emanuel Ţăranu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Octavian Ţopescu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The California fans cheered their team off the field, for while Santimbru FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
