Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Matei Ivănescu started the match with the kick off. After having played for 2 minutes, Răzvan Grigore managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Covrigi CSS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Răzvan Grigore was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Viorel Alexiu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Eugen Șeicaru tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Covrigi CSS's Emanuel Videanu got a good chance for a goal in the 7th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 9 minutes into the game, Gelu Azamfirei recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Corneliu Măgură. Gelu Azamfirei showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Eugen Șeicaru stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Emanuel Videanu's shot from short distance in the 14th minute. Horia Andrițoiu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cristian Bărcăuan took the ball and in the 20 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Corneliu Măgură. Corneliu Măgură dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. In the 24th minute, Cătălin Piersic made a precise shot to the right of Corneliu Măgură. Covrigi CSS's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. 28 minutes into the game, Mlecanesti's Cristian Bărcăuan nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Corneliu Măgură made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. In the 31st minute, Cristian Bărcăuan made a precise shot to the right of Corneliu Măgură. Covrigi CSS's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 5-0. In the 34th minute, Mlecanesti's Gigi Rânceanu seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Gigi Rânceanu the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Mlecanesti protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Gigi Rânceanu had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 34th minute, one of Mlecanesti:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Mlecanesti. In the 36th minute there was a penalty for Covrigi CSS. Emanuel Videanu stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Eugen Șeicaru. 5-1. 41 minutes into the match, Niculae Bușcu notched a goal, 5-2, to the right of Mlecanesti's Eugen Șeicaru. Eugen Șeicaru was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Emanuel Videanu made a kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 55th minute, Gelu Azamfirei managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mlecanesti's supporters rose to their feet, but Gelu Azamfirei was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Corneliu Măgură breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 64 minutes into the match, Mlecanesti's goalkeeper Eugen Șeicaru had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gelu Bâlea. After having played for 69 minutes, Emanuel Videanu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Covrigi CSS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Emanuel Videanu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Eugen Șeicaru made an important save on a dangerous shot by Răzvan Grigore in the 71st minute. After a defensive mix-up in Mlecanesti's zone, Viorel Alexiu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eugen Șeicaru came out of the goal and Viorel Alexiu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Viorel Alexiu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eugen Șeicaru having to interfere. Covrigi CSS's Corneliu Măgură played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Bărcăuan in the 76th minute of play. Cristian Bărcăuan struck a weak shot in the 78th minute. Corneliu Măgură didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mlecanesti. Cătălin Piersic fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Corneliu Măgură having to interfere. Corneliu Măgură took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gelu Azamfirei, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Emanuel Videanu in the 84th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Eugen Șeicaru prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of Covrigi CSS booed when Mlecanesti was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cătălin Piersic didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Mlecanesti getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Andrei Burca hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Codrin Berca managed to get in a good position for a shot. Covrigi CSS's supporters rose to their feet, but Codrin Berca was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Eugen Șeicaru breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Viorel Alexiu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Andrei Buculeasa hit a great freekick 97 minutes into the match. When the referee blew the final whistle, Mlecanesti could leave the field as winners, despite Covrigi CSS having more of the ball for most of the match.
