Călin Piț showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Matei Ivănescu in the 5th minute of the match. Călin Piț took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Bărcăuan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Eugen Șeicaru made a fantastic save in the 13th minute, when Sorin Boia sent off a good shot on target. Sorin Boia blasted a shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Eugen Șeicaru having to make a save. Adrian Popârcea lost his temper 28 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 28th match minute, Frunzisul was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adrian Popârcea to maneuver through the defense. 29 minutes into the match, Frunzisul's goal looked a bit too open when Mădălin Iuonaș came free, but Călin Piț reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Mlecanesti booed when Frunzisul was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fabian Dănănae didn't get a good kick on the ball. 34 minutes into the match, Mlecanesti's Mădălin Iuonaș broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. 36 minutes into the match, Cristian Bărcăuan had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Călin Piț. Frunzisul's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cristian Bărcăuan was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Cristian Bărcăuan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Călin Piț having to interfere. Frunzisul's Călin Piț played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cătălin Piersic in the 42nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cătălin Piersic in the 43rd minute of play forced Frunzisul's goalkeeper Călin Piț to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Frunzisul getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Fabian Dănănae hit a great ball. After the first half Mlecanesti were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Călin Piț made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Bărcăuan in the 52nd minute of play. In the 57th minute, Nistor Alexe got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 64 minutes into the match, Mlecanesti's Matei Ivănescu sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Călin Piț narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Nistor Alexe's late challenge caught a Frunzisul's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nistor Alexe helped the player get up and apologised. After 65 played minutes Mlecanesti got a freekick which was hit by Nistor Alexe. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristian Bărcăuan got free with Călin Piț in the 70th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 74th minute Sorin Boia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eugen Șeicaru saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 76 minutes into the match, Gelu Azamfirei had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Călin Piț. Călin Piț was a little too slow when Matei Ivănescu got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 83rd minute. The score was now 0-4. Frunzisul's Călin Piț played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gelu Azamfirei in the 90th minute of play. Călin Piț showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cătălin Piersic, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. Cristian Bărcăuan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 93rd minute of the match, but Călin Piț made a huge save. In the 95th minute the ball was on its way in behind Mlecanesti's goalkeeper Eugen Șeicaru, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the final whistle sounded Mlecanesti left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Frunzisul.
