Spectators: 7479 (Terracing: 5611, Seating: 1719, VIP seats: 149) Biltaci CSM's Iulian Hârciog started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Irinel Jușcă fell near the penalty area in the 3rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Biltaci CSM's protests and gave Irinel Jușcă a yellow card for diving instead. In the 4th minute there was a penalty for Sumugiu. Ovidiu Micescu stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Marcel Bărboianu. 1-0. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Codruț Turcan during the 7th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Codruț Turcan hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Sumugiu's Albert Ghețea got a free kick in the 9th minute. When Biltaci CSM's Tudor Darabonț in the 10th minute got a chance for a shot 10th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Sumugiu's goalie prevented a goal. 12 minutes into the game, Sumugiu's Marcu Horea nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Marcel Bărboianu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Tudor Darabonț managed to get in a good position for a shot. Biltaci CSM's supporters rose to their feet, but Tudor Darabonț was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Albert Vrabie breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Albert Vrabie took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tudor Darabonț, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A nice corner shot did that Valeriu Hăvârneanu got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Albert Vrabie quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Sumugiu's Albert Vrabie played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mircea Joja in the 26th minute of play. Albert Vrabie made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tudor Darabonț in the 27th minute of play. Corneliu Andriescu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Sergiu Filimon hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. After having played for 34 minutes, Iulian Hârciog managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Biltaci CSM's supporters crossed their fingers, but Iulian Hârciog was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 36th minute Iulian Hârciog shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Albert Vrabie saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 37th minute, Tudor Darabonț got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Iulian Hârciog sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpected shot in the 46th minute by Marcu Horea got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Irinel Jușcă hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Corneliu Andriescu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Marcel Bărboianu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Codruț Turcan hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. Marcel Bărboianu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcu Horea in the 68th minute of play. After having played for 70 minutes, Mircea Joja managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Biltaci CSM's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mircea Joja was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Biltaci CSM's Marcel Bărboianu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Corneliu Andriescu in the 81st minute of play. Valeriu Hăvârneanu lost his temper 83 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 83rd minute of the game. One of Biltaci CSM:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Sumugiu:s goal. The referee gave Sumugiu a penalty, 85 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Ovidiu Micescu, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Biltaci CSM's Marcel Bărboianu. 4-0. Sumugiu's Corneliu Andriescu got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Remus Oproiu kicked well hit freekick during the 88th minute of the match. Tudor Darabonț fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Albert Vrabie having to interfere. Lucian Mavrodin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mugurel Frențiu hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. In the 97th minute Corneliu Andriescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcel Bărboianu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Sumugiu fans cheered their team off the field, for while Biltaci CSM had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
