Steaua FCSB's Costică Diaconescu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 8th minute of the match, managed to save Steaua FCSB from getting a goal against them. Costică Diaconescu made a fantastic save in the 13th minute, when Mircea Joja sent off a good shot on target. A collision led to Biltaci CSM getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Mircea Joja hit a great ball. In the 25th minute, Valeriu Hăvârneanu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Valentin Mangra took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 26th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Marcel Bărboianu. Biltaci CSM's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Mircea Joja kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. If Tudor Darabonț had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The crowd rose to their feet as Iulian Hârciog kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Costică Diaconescu. That made the score 1-0 in the 33 minute of play. Steaua FCSB's Mircea Bărbătescu got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Biltaci CSM's Marcel Bărboianu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sergiu Pelin in the 45th minute of play. Mircea Joja hit a great freekick 49 minutes into the match. In the 49th minute, Valentin Mangra sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Biltaci CSM's Marcel Bărboianu didn't even have to move. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sergiu Pelin was the one to do the kick off. When the match had gone on for 56 minutes, Sergiu Pelin took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Marcel Bărboianu to make any attempt to save it. The supporters of Steaua FCSB booed when Biltaci CSM was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mircea Joja didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 63rd minute, Sergiu Pelin got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Codruț Turcan kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. Tudor Darabonț blasted a shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Costică Diaconescu having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tudor Darabonț in the 72nd minute of play forced Steaua FCSB's goalkeeper Costică Diaconescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 73 played minutes Biltaci CSM got a freekick which was hit by Mircea Joja. In the 78th minute the ball was on its way in behind Steaua FCSB's goalkeeper Costică Diaconescu, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Biltaci CSM's Marcel Bărboianu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sergiu Pelin in the 80th minute of play. Biltaci CSM's Marcel Bărboianu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 96th minute of the match, managed to save Biltaci CSM from getting a goal against them. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
