The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tudor Iliescu to strike the kick off in the second half. When Sandu Brădean fell near the penalty area in the 51st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored F.C. Viitorul Iasi's protests and gave Sandu Brădean a yellow card for diving instead. After 51 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for F.C. Viitorul Iasi! The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
