The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of EMSZ.SE.2016. booed when Universitatea Pitești was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lucian Mihaiu didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 4 minutes, Doru Cunea managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. EMSZ.SE.2016.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Doru Cunea was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 7 minutes into the game, Anton Afloarei was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Universitatea Pitești's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave EMSZ.SE.2016. the free kick. When Iacob Mascovescu came up free with the goalie in the 8th minute, the EMSZ.SE.2016. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Iacob Mascovescu couldn't finish the play. Eliodor Sârbu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Iurie Șipoș in the 11th minute of play. In the 13th minute, Marian Şuţu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Iurie Șipoș fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eliodor Sârbu having to interfere. Eliodor Sârbu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Emil Olaru, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Doru Cunea sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Andrei Nistorescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Iacob Mascovescu in the 24th minute of play. Mihail Şunda hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. Andrei Nistorescu made a fantastic save in the 29th minute, when Iacob Mascovescu sent off a good shot on target. Iacob Mascovescu's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Andrei Nistorescu firmly grabbed it by the left post. EMSZ.SE.2016.'s Niculae Burdea got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 45th minute of the game, Lucian Mihaiu landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. After 45 minutes of play EMSZ.SE.2016.'s Marian Şuţu was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. A collision led to EMSZ.SE.2016. getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Marian Şuţu hit a great ball. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Niculae Burdea recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 54th minute, Niculae Burdea got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After having played for 55 minutes, Niculae Burdea managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. EMSZ.SE.2016.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Niculae Burdea was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Universitatea Pitești's Codruț Latarețu got a free kick in the 57th minute. Andrei Nistorescu came out of the goal in the 61st minute to try and stop a shot by EMSZ.SE.2016.'s Niculae Burdea. But to his dismay, Niculae Burdea quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. EMSZ.SE.2016.'s Niculae Burdea got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Andrei Nistorescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Niculae Burdea, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Andrei Nistorescu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Niculae Burdea in the 70th minute of the match. Niculae Burdea sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Niculae Burdea struck a weak shot in the 76th minute. Andrei Nistorescu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for EMSZ.SE.2016.. After some fancy dribbling in the 79th minute, Niculae Burdea managed to get in a good position for a shot. EMSZ.SE.2016.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Niculae Burdea was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Andrei Nistorescu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Andrei Nistorescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Niculae Burdea, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. EMSZ.SE.2016.'s Valeriu Tăcutu managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Anton Afloarei in the 85 minute of the game. In the 88th minute, Iacob Mascovescu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The EMSZ.SE.2016. fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. EMSZ.SE.2016. had played much better football throughout.
