Spectators: 5759 (Terracing: 4555, Seating: 1055, VIP seats: 149) Universitatea Pitești's Iurie Șipoș started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4th minute, Basarab Ignat hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 4 played minutes, Universitatea Pitești's Cătălin Ghiță shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Iustin Nacu came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Universitatea Pitești reached it. Iustin Nacu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Iurie Șipoș, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Iurie Șipoș in the 9th minute of play forced Steaua Bucarest's goalkeeper Iustin Nacu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Emil Olaru sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 13 minutes into the match, Steaua Bucarest's goal looked a bit too open when Iurie Șipoș came free, but Iustin Nacu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 13th minute, Iurie Șipoș ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Iustin Nacu was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Avram Vişoiu's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 18thth minute, Andrei Nistorescu skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Universitatea Pitești's Emil Olaru got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Iurie Șipoș in the 30th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Iustin Nacu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Emil Olaru came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Universitatea Pitești fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Emil Olaru couldn't finish the play. Iustin Nacu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Iurie Șipoș, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 37 minutes, Iurie Șipoș managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Universitatea Pitești's supporters crossed their fingers, but Iurie Șipoș was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Iurie Șipoș received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Iustin Nacu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Iustin Nacu came out of the goal in the 47th minute to try and stop a shot by Universitatea Pitești's Codruț Latarețu. But to his dismay, Codruț Latarețu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Andrei Tănasă made the kick off in the second half. Andrei Tănasă received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Andrei Nistorescu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Andrei Nistorescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Avram Vişoiu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Avram Vişoiu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Avram Vişoiu in the 66th minute of play forced Universitatea Pitești's goalkeeper Andrei Nistorescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 68 minutes into the match, Universitatea Pitești's goal looked a bit too open when Avram Vişoiu came free, but Andrei Nistorescu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Andrei Nistorescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Andrei Tănasă in the 76th minute of play. Emil Olaru succeeded in the game's 86th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-3. Andrei Nistorescu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Avram Vişoiu went, in the 92nd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-3 was the resulting score. In the 98th minute the ball was on its way in behind Steaua Bucarest's goalkeeper Iustin Nacu, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the final whistle sounded Universitatea Pitești left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Steaua Bucarest.
