When Ciopirteni's Ionică Coșeriu in the 7th minute got a chance for a shot 7th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Universitatea Pitești's goalie prevented a goal. Andrei Nistorescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ionică Coșeriu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Ciopirteni's zone, Emil Olaru stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Iurie Muntian came out of the goal and Emil Olaru tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gabriel Măndica kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. Ciopirteni's Nistor Bacanu got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The Ciopirteni fans' excitement grew in the 26th match minute when Ciopirteni's Ionică Coșeriu looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nistor Bacanu in the 31st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Andrei Nistorescu saved Universitatea Pitești from getting behind. A collision led to Universitatea Pitești getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Codruț Latarețu hit a great ball. Emil Olaru received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Iurie Muntian tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Universitatea Pitești's Andrei Nistorescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ionică Coșeriu in the 37th minute of play. Emil Olaru scored 1-2 in the 46th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Iurie Muntian, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After the first half Ciopirteni were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ionică Coșeriu to strike the kick off in the second half. Universitatea Pitești's Emil Olaru got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Ciopirteni's zone, Iurie Șipoș stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Iurie Muntian came out of the goal and Iurie Șipoș tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 67th minute Ciopirteni were awarded a corner. Ion Băbescu went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Ion Băbescu got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Andrei Nistorescu quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. When Ionică Coșeriu in the 69th play minute got the chance to kick a hard shot on goal from short distance neither the defense or Andrei Nistorescu kept up with the ball and suddenly the score was 1-3 when the ball slipped into goal inside the left pole. Iurie Muntian came out of the goal in the 72nd minute to try and stop a shot by Universitatea Pitești's Emil Olaru. But to his dismay, Emil Olaru quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-3. Ciopirteni's Nistor Bacanu got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Nistor Bacanu came free with the goalkeeper in the 84th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Andrei Nistorescu could save by the left post. Iurie Șipoș received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Iurie Muntian tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 92 minutes into the game, Anton Afloarei was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Universitatea Pitești's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ciopirteni the free kick. In a very dangerous position, a player in Universitatea Pitești fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 92nd minute. Penalty! Ion Băbescu placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! Universitatea Pitești's Andrei Nistorescu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 95th minute of the match, managed to save Universitatea Pitești from getting a goal against them.
