Costin Chesaru made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Manole Dulca in the 3rd minute of play. After a rather tough play, Milan's Francisc Iorga got a free kick in the 4th minute. Valeriu Cucerdean's late challenge caught a Milan's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Valeriu Cucerdean helped the player get up and apologised. In the 16th minute of the match Cornel Bitănescu shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Călin Tănăsocă showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 21st minute of the match Costel Ciutacu sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Costin Chesaru skillfully saved the ball. 22 minutes into the game, Bogdan Codruț cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Costin Chesaru was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 31 minutes into the match, Milan's goal looked a bit too open when Niculae Nastac came free, but Costin Chesaru reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 35th minute Eugen Cristoiu suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. When Bogdan Codruț fell near the penalty area in the 35th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Protopopesti UFC's protests and gave Bogdan Codruț a yellow card for diving instead. After 36 played minutes Protopopesti UFC got a freekick which was hit by Bogdan Codruț. If Francisc Iorga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 39th minute, Nechifor Moșneanu made a precise shot to the right of Călin Tănăsocă. Protopopesti UFC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Milan's Nechifor Moșneanu got a good chance for a goal in the 48th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nechifor Moșneanu to make the kick off. Niculae Nastac received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Costin Chesaru tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Costin Chesaru showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Manole Dulca in the 59th minute of the match. A collision led to Milan getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Cornel Bitănescu hit a great ball. Manole Dulca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Costin Chesaru having to interfere. Manole Dulca sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Călin Tănăsocă showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nechifor Moșneanu, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. Milan's Costin Chesaru played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Manole Dulca in the 88th minute of play. A collision led to Milan getting a freekick after 91 minutes play. Cornel Bitănescu hit a great ball. After some careless play in the Milan defense, Niculae Nastac kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Costin Chesaru. The Milan fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Costin Chesaru should have stopped the shot. The Protopopesti UFC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
