Toader Câmpeanu charged in rather forcefully in the 31st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Toader Câmpeanu the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 32nd match minute, Universitatea Cluj was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Toader Câmpeanu to maneuver through the defense. Olimpiu Tudorache sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Costel Hârșu charged in rather forcefully in the 42nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Costel Hârșu the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Olimpiu Tudorache to make the kick off. Stelian Stafie struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Iosif Chificeac didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Universitatea Cluj. Aurelian Birișu's late challenge caught a Universitatea Cluj's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mihăiţă Butnaru couldn't finish the play. Iosif Chificeac came out of the goal in the 81st minute to try and stop a shot by Universitatea Cluj's Stelian Stafie. But to his dismay, Stelian Stafie quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3.
