Pompiliu Platon could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 22nd minute of the match, but Victor Onișoru made a huge save. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Irinel Zbârciog to make the kick off. FC Dreain Timisoara's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Irinel Zbârciog in the 54th minute. After a rather tough play, FC Bucovina's Gelu Cobâlcescu got a free kick in the 63rd minute. In the 68th minute, Gelu Cobâlcescu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 69thth minute of the game Irinel Zbârciog who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Bucovina's Petruț Păstrăv was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 71st minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Bucovina's goalkeeper Petruț Păstrăv, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. FC Bucovina's defense didn't have a chance, in the 75th minute, when Irinel Zbârciog scored to the left of an out of position Petruț Păstrăv, making the score, 1-4. An unexpected shot in the 80th minute by Leontin Liciu got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 84th minute Irinel Zbârciog shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Petruț Păstrăv saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Leontin Liciu got free with Petruț Păstrăv in the 86th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to FC Bucovina getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Aurelian Păuceanu hit a great ball. Irinel Zbârciog might have been able to make a better finish in the 93rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Petruț Păstrăv. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Irinel Zbârciog ran back to his position shaking his head. The FC Bucovina fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. FC Dreain Timisoara were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
