After a rather tough play, Nittony Lions's Leonard Lupșoiu got a free kick in the 15th minute. Octav Codrea took the ball and in the 16 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Moise Costeiantu. Moise Costeiantu dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Andrei Mandache hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. Moise Costeiantu stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Octav Codrea's shot from short distance in the 26th minute. Mircea Cângea recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The Gledeny fans' excitement grew in the 33rd match minute when Gledeny's Octav Codrea looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 38th minute, Mircea Cângea got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gledeny's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mircea Cângea was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 62nd minute Octav Codrea shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Moise Costeiantu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Nittony Lions defense, Octav Codrea kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Moise Costeiantu. The Nittony Lions fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Moise Costeiantu should have stopped the shot.
