The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 6th minute, Bogdan Mihăilescu reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Iulian Donici. The goal made the score 1-0. Dorel Cubleșan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ernest Ciompec, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. After a rather tough play, Ilasi CSS's Marcel Marinescu got a free kick in the 18th minute. Petrică Bolborici received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Dorel Cubleșan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Olimpiu Zburliş hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. The supporters of Prunari booed when Ilasi CSS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcel Marinescu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dorel Cubleșan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Petrică Bolborici in the 29th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Ilasi CSS defense, Petrică Bolborici kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dorel Cubleșan. The Ilasi CSS fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dorel Cubleșan should have stopped the shot. Prunari's Iulian Donici played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Agud in the 34th minute of play. Ernest Ciompec sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 38 minutes, Petrică Bolborici managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Prunari's supporters crossed their fingers, but Petrică Bolborici was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 39 minutes, Ioan Murgescu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ilasi CSS and the Prunari players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 39th minute, Ioan Murgescu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Daniel Agud's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Iulian Donici read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 45th minute of play. Daniel Agud got in the 47th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Iulian Donici handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Agud to make the kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Petrică Bolborici in the 56th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dorel Cubleșan saved Ilasi CSS from getting behind. Ernest Ciompec fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dorel Cubleșan having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Ilasi CSS's zone, Ernest Ciompec stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dorel Cubleșan came out of the goal and Ernest Ciompec tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Dorel Cubleșan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Petrică Bolborici, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 70th minute, Avram Dincă hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 72 minutes into the game, Daniel Agud cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Iulian Donici was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When Radu Isopescu fell near the penalty area in the 85th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ilasi CSS's protests and gave Radu Isopescu a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Ilasi CSS's Radu Isopescu got a free kick in the 87th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Ilasi CSS's zone, Petrică Bolborici stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dorel Cubleșan came out of the goal and Petrică Bolborici tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Ilasi CSS getting a freekick after 91 minutes play. Ovidiu Stănoiu hit a great ball. Petrică Bolborici received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Dorel Cubleșan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ilasi CSS were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest.
