The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Adrian Musta charged in rather forcefully in the 3rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Adrian Musta the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to VfB Stuttgart getting a freekick after 3 minutes play. Adrian Musta hit a great ball. George Alb fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paul Ciurea having to interfere. If Florin Jianu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Florin Jianu struck a weak shot in the 15th minute. Fabian Zamfira didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for VfB Stuttgart. Fabian Zamfira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ştefan Bălăiță in the 17th minute of play. 19 minutes into the match, VfB Stuttgart's goal looked a bit too open when George Alb came free, but Paul Ciurea reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nicu Tâlvescu might have been able to make a better finish in the 24th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Paul Ciurea. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Nicu Tâlvescu ran back to his position shaking his head. Pompiliu Frențiu took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 25th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Fabian Zamfira. No Name Team Baia Mare's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 28th minute, Nicu Tâlvescu managed to get in a good position for a shot. No Name Team Baia Mare's supporters rose to their feet, but Nicu Tâlvescu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Paul Ciurea breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to No Name Team Baia Mare getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Flavius Vernescu hit a great ball. After 33 played minutes, VfB Stuttgart's David Plopeanu shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Fabian Zamfira came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in VfB Stuttgart reached it. No Name Team Baia Mare's defense didn't have a chance, in the 35th minute, when Andrei Potopea scored to the left of an out of position Fabian Zamfira, making the score, 1-0. Ştefan Bălăiță recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 46 played minutes No Name Team Baia Mare got a freekick which was hit by Flavius Vernescu. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for George Alb to strike the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Ştefan Bălăiță notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of No Name Team Baia Mare's Fabian Zamfira. Fabian Zamfira was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 59 minutes into the game, Nae Sandu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. No Name Team Baia Mare's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave VfB Stuttgart the free kick. Fabian Zamfira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Florin Jianu in the 62nd minute of the match. After 69 minutes of play, No Name Team Baia Mare's Nicu Tâlvescu made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Paul Ciurea was left in no man's land by his defense there! When the match had gone on for 74 minutes, George Alb took a quick shot and it went in 2-2 without a chance for Paul Ciurea to make any attempt to save it. 78 minutes into the match, Nicu Tâlvescu had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Paul Ciurea. VfB Stuttgart's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Nicu Tâlvescu was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-3. No Name Team Baia Mare's Nicu Tâlvescu came free and shot a quick shot against goal 86 minutes in the game, fortunately Paul Ciurea had problems saving as it came toward the left post. In the 89th match minute, VfB Stuttgart was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eliodor Poplăcan to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of VfB Stuttgart booed when No Name Team Baia Mare was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 97 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ivan Mâinea didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 98th minute, David Plopeanu sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and No Name Team Baia Mare's Fabian Zamfira didn't even have to move. Chants of No Name Team Baia Mare echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as VfB Stuttgart had held the ball for most of the match.
