The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Nistor Vernescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. Basarab Aursulesei took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paul Pătrășconiu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Basarab Aursulesei showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Valentin Cornoiu in the 26th minute of the match. Valentin Cornoiu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Basarab Aursulesei having to interfere. If Marian Benga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nistor Vernescu hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. FC Girdoaia's Eric Todericiu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marian Benga in the 40th minute of play. If Nistor Vernescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Marian Benga stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Liverpool FC's zone, Grigore Blaga stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Basarab Aursulesei came out of the goal and Grigore Blaga tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 62 minutes into the game, Dumitru Chiriacescu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Liverpool FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Girdoaia the free kick. After a rather tough play, Liverpool FC's Dumitru Chiriacescu got a free kick in the 62nd minute. Basarab Aursulesei showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Grigore Blaga in the 63rd minute of the match. Nistor Vernescu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 69 minutes, Marian Benga managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Liverpool FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marian Benga was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Basarab Aursulesei made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Valentin Cornoiu in the 73rd minute of play. Liverpool FC's Marian Benga got a good chance for a goal in the 78th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Valentin Cornoiu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Basarab Aursulesei having to interfere. Basarab Aursulesei showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Grigore Blaga, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. With a little luck, FC Girdoaia's Eric Todericiu got control of the ball when Nistor Vernescu tried to sneak it across the goal line. Marian Benga fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eric Todericiu having to interfere. Liverpool FC played a much better game than FC Girdoaia and deserved their victory. The FC Girdoaia players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
