After a rather tough play, Petelea's Valer Micu got a free kick in the 4th minute. In the 5thth minute of the game Petre Lucescu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Petelea's Cornel Hațegan was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 7th minute, Emanuel Gheban made a precise shot to the right of Gavril Hulubei. SR Brasov's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Gavril Hulubei made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emanuel Gheban in the 11th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Claudiu Nacu in the 13th minute of play forced SR Brasov's goalkeeper Gavril Hulubei to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 15 minutes into the match, SR Brasov's goal looked a bit too open when Claudiu Nacu came free, but Gavril Hulubei reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 17 minutes of play, Petelea's Emanuel Gheban made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. When Traian Mitică came up free with the goalie in the 47th minute, the Petelea fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Traian Mitică couldn't finish the play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Matei Bute ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on Petelea's corner Matei Bute fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Gavril Hulubei quite easily take care of the ball. Cornel Hațegan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Petre Lucescu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gavril Hulubei was a little too slow when Traian Mitică got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 61st minute. The score was now 1-3. Petelea's Remus Ciuvică was substituted for Gheorghe Vintilă. With an all-out effort, Petelea's Gavril Hulubei threw himself towards the right post 66 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Claudiu Nacu, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Petre Lucescu blasted a shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Cornel Hațegan having to make a save. David Prisecaru's late challenge caught a Petelea's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. David Prisecaru helped the player get up and apologised. David Prisecaru hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. 84 minutes into the match, SR Brasov's goalkeeper Gavril Hulubei had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Emanuel Gheban.
