Codruț Bute made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emanuel Gheban in the 3rd minute of play. After 5 played minutes Petelea got a freekick which was hit by Valer Micu. Petelea's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Filip Ciucă 7 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-0. Codruț Bute showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Silviu Slavici, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. Emanuel Gheban took the ball and in the 18 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Codruț Bute. Codruț Bute dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Nichifor Boieru kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. Codruț Bute made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Matei Bute in the 42nd minute of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Filip Ciucă to make the kick off. Cornel Hațegan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eliodor Baican in the 56th minute of play. Silviu Slavici fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Codruț Bute having to interfere. Traian Mitică sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, Azuga's Codruț Bute got control of the ball when Emanuel Gheban tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 63rd minute, Petelea's Emanuel Gheban ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Codruț Bute. Codruț Bute yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-2. In the 67th minute, Traian Mitică hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Codruț Bute took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Claudiu Nacu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Codruț Bute made an important save on a dangerous shot by Remus Ciuvică in the 81st minute. When the match had gone on for 85 minutes, Traian Mitică took a quick shot and it went in 2-3 without a chance for Codruț Bute to make any attempt to save it. In the 89th minute, Victor Groza hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Azuga's Codruț Bute played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Claudiu Nacu in the 95th minute of play. Petelea's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
