Spectators: 7102 (Terracing: 5602, Seating: 1500, VIP seats: 0) SR Brasov's Petre Lucescu started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Petre Lucescu took the ball and in the 5 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Codruț Bute. Codruț Bute dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Nichifor Boieru's late challenge caught a SR Brasov's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nichifor Boieru helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of SR Brasov booed when Azuga was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nichifor Boieru didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 13 minutes, Remus Găină mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SR Brasov and the Azuga players grew even worse after the yellow card. Remus Găină kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. Gavril Hulubei made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eliodor Baican in the 19th minute of play. Filip Ciucă sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. SR Brasov's Gavril Hulubei played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Filip Ciucă in the 34th minute of play. Aurelian Negreanu kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. Azuga's defense didn't have a chance, in the 41st minute, when Petre Lucescu scored to the left of an out of position Codruț Bute, making the score, 2-1. Codruț Bute was out of position in the 44 minute of play, and Petre Lucescu capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Petre Lucescu really showed his touch with that goal: 3-1. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Filip Ciucă to make the kick off. Vlad Baldazar scored 4-1 in the 51st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Codruț Bute, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 63 minutes into the match, Azuga's goal looked a bit too open when Petre Lucescu came free, but Codruț Bute reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 64th minute, Petre Lucescu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Azuga's zone, Petre Lucescu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Codruț Bute came out of the goal and Petre Lucescu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gavril Hulubei made a fantastic save in the 73rd minute, when Eliodor Baican sent off a good shot on target. In the 75th minute Petre Lucescu suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nae Stanomir during the 75th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Azuga fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 75th minute. Penalty! The referee gave SR Brasov a penalty, 79 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Cristi Rednic, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Azuga's Codruț Bute. 5-1. In the 96th minute, Eliodor Baican ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gavril Hulubei was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-2. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The SR Brasov fans cheered their team off the field, for while Azuga had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
