Cornel Ciorobîtcă tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Adam Bobocea scored 1-0 in the 14th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ernest Agârbiceanu, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Toader Antim had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cornel Ciorobîtcă showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dacian Şchiopu in the 21st minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Asu Unirea's Costel Bădilescu got a free kick in the 23rd minute. Vali Pârcălab charged in rather forcefully in the 27th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Vali Pârcălab the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 27th match minute, Tomnatec was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vali Pârcălab to maneuver through the defense. Dacian Şchiopu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some careless play in the Asu Unirea defense, Nistor Dumitrache kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Cornel Ciorobîtcă. The Asu Unirea fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Cornel Ciorobîtcă should have stopped the shot. After the first half Tomnatec were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Nistor Dumitrache to strike the kick off in the second half. If Dacian Şchiopu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cornel Ciorobîtcă was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Toader Antim showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-3 in the 62 minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adam Bobocea in the 68th minute of play forced Tomnatec's goalkeeper Ernest Agârbiceanu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 72nd minute Aurelian Petre shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ernest Agârbiceanu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 73rd match minute, Tomnatec was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vali Pârcălab to maneuver through the defense. 74 minutes into the match, Tomnatec's goal looked a bit too open when Aurelian Petre came free, but Ernest Agârbiceanu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. During the 74th minute of the match Vali Pârcălab completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Vali Pârcălab a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. After some fancy dribbling in the 78th minute, Aurelian Petre managed to get in a good position for a shot. Asu Unirea's supporters rose to their feet, but Aurelian Petre was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adam Bobocea in the 79th minute of play forced Tomnatec's goalkeeper Ernest Agârbiceanu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 81st minute, Toader Antim hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Asu Unirea's Cornel Ciorobîtcă proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 86th minute of the match, managed to save Asu Unirea from getting a goal against them. Nistor Dumitrache fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cornel Ciorobîtcă having to interfere. If Dacian Şchiopu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tomnatec played a much better game than Asu Unirea and deserved their victory. The Asu Unirea players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
