FC AFC TULCEA were awarded a corner in the 12th minute after FC Alex's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Iacob Stoian took the corner. The corner led FC AFC TULCEA's Iacob Stoian to fire away a dangerous shot which Ernest Arnăuțescu despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Ernest Arnăuțescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from George Sărăroiu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dinu Lucan during the 16th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, FC AFC TULCEA's Dinu Lucan got a free kick in the 16th minute. The supporters of FC Alex booed when FC AFC TULCEA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ovidiu Nae didn't get a good kick on the ball. 27 minutes into the match, FC AFC TULCEA's goalkeeper Ernest Bara had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Petru Alexa. FC Alex's Ernest Arnăuțescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Niculae Onișoru in the 28th minute of play. The audience was convinced that George Sărăroiu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ernest Arnăuțescu was relentless in the 29th minute of the game. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling George Sărăroiu in the 34th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ernest Arnăuțescu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Niculae Onișoru's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ernest Arnăuțescu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 36th minute of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. George Sărăroiu was the one to do the kick off. Ernest Bara took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pompiliu Dima, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. FC AFC TULCEA's George Sărăroiu got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 57 played minutes, FC AFC TULCEA's Iacob Stoian shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Ernest Arnăuțescu came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in FC AFC TULCEA reached it. FC AFC TULCEA's George Sărăroiu got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Niculae Onișoru was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 65th minute. FC AFC TULCEA's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. In the 67th match minute, FC AFC TULCEA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cristi Ionașcu to maneuver through the defense. Niculae Onișoru could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 70th minute of the match, but Ernest Arnăuțescu made a huge save. After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Petru Alexa managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Alex's supporters rose to their feet, but Petru Alexa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ernest Bara breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Niculae Onișoru blasted a shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ernest Arnăuțescu having to make a save. George Sărăroiu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 77th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 79th minute, one of FC Alex:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for FC Alex. The goalkeeper, Ernest Arnăuțescu, was totally fooled by FC AFC TULCEA's Iacob Stoian, who 80 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. After 84 minutes, Dorel Iosifian mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Alex and the FC AFC TULCEA players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to FC Alex getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Dorel Iosifian hit a great ball. Iacob Stoian made a great header on FC AFC TULCEA's corner, it was just that FC Alex's Ernest Arnăuțescu managed to reach the ball for a save. Petru Alexa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ernest Bara read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 91st minute of play. After a rather tough play, FC AFC TULCEA's Șerban Hălmăgeanu got a free kick in the 95th minute. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. FC AFC TULCEA walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
