The supporters of Stegarii booed when Dynamo Bucuresti was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Laurențiu Neghină didn't get a good kick on the ball. George Birișu might have been able to make a better finish in the 49th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rareș Podgoreanu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. George Birișu ran back to his position shaking his head. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and George Birișu made a kick off. In a very dangerous position, a player in Dynamo Bucuresti fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 57th minute. Penalty! Nistor Drumeș sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Nistor Drumeș came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the Stegarii fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nistor Drumeș couldn't finish the play. In the 84th minute, Laurențiu Bălanescu made a precise shot to the right of Rareș Podgoreanu. Stegarii's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Rareș Podgoreanu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Laurențiu Bălanescu in the 89th minute of the match.
