Șerban Oblemenco started the match with the kick off. Lucian Gordunescu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 5th minute of the match, but Andrei Arbore made a huge save. Lucian Gordunescu hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Iliuta FC's Dorel Burdujan got a free kick in the 18th minute. Sergiu Tarchilă stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Șerban Oblemenco's shot from short distance in the 19th minute. In the 21st minute, Lucian Gordunescu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Iliuta FC's Codrin Braniște got a free kick in the 28th minute. The supporters of Iliuta FC booed when CSM Catunele was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Liviu Isvoreanu didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 31st minute, Ernest Becheanu reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Andrei Arbore. The goal made the score 1-0. When Iliuta FC's Lucian Gordunescu in the 39th minute got a chance for a shot 39th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. In the 39thth minute of the game Lucian Gordunescu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but CSM Catunele's Andrei Arbore was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 41 minutes into the game, Iliuta FC's Lucian Gordunescu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Andrei Arbore made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. Andrei Arbore was a little too slow when Lucian Gordunescu got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 44th minute. The score was now 3-0. Mugur Bolborici charged in rather forcefully in the 47th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Mugur Bolborici the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 48th match minute, CSM Catunele was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mugur Bolborici to maneuver through the defense. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

The audience was convinced that Lucian Gordunescu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Andrei Arbore was relentless in the 54th minute of the game. In the 55th minute, Olimpiu Gheție hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in CSM Catunele's zone, Ernest Becheanu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Andrei Arbore came out of the goal and Ernest Becheanu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Andrei Arbore made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nicu Hâncu in the 63rd minute of play. Lucian Gordunescu might have been able to make a better finish in the 71st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Andrei Arbore. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Lucian Gordunescu ran back to his position shaking his head. If Nicu Hâncu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a rather tough play, Iliuta FC's Olimpiu Gheție got a free kick in the 81st minute. In the 89thth minute of the game Lucian Gordunescu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but CSM Catunele's Andrei Arbore was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Nicu Hâncu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 90th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 94 played minutes Iliuta FC got a freekick which was hit by Dinu Băieșu. There was no doubt that Iliuta FC were the better team. Iliuta FC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
