With a little luck, Deyanhur Timisoara's Marcel Vergulescu got control of the ball when Manole Iordache tried to sneak it across the goal line. Vintilă Nasta showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Octav Popeneciu, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. After 14 minutes, Robert Rogozea mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Deyanhur Timisoara and the FC Lions United players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a defensive mix-up in Deyanhur Timisoara's zone, Damian Dima stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marcel Vergulescu came out of the goal and Damian Dima tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 34th match minute, Deyanhur Timisoara was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Robert Rogozea to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 40th minute, Damian Dima managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Lions United's supporters rose to their feet, but Damian Dima was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marcel Vergulescu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience was convinced that Manole Iordache's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Marcel Vergulescu was relentless in the 47th minute of the game. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Manole Iordache stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Paul Tatulici notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Deyanhur Timisoara's Marcel Vergulescu. Marcel Vergulescu was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Ioan Dragalina struck a weak shot in the 56th minute. Marcel Vergulescu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Lions United. Vintilă Nasta showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Moise Cutieru in the 59th minute of the match. In the 61st minute, Gelu Moga got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Moise Cutieru in the 64th minute of play forced FC Lions United's goalkeeper Vintilă Nasta to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marcel Vergulescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Damian Dima, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. Paul Tatulici recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Doru Druță got free with Vintilă Nasta in the 73rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Manole Iordache sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 82nd minute Ioan Dragalina shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcel Vergulescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Deyanhur Timisoara defense, Manole Iordache kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Marcel Vergulescu. The Deyanhur Timisoara fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Marcel Vergulescu should have stopped the shot. Manole Iordache fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcel Vergulescu having to interfere. Marcel Vergulescu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Paul Tatulici in the 87th minute of the match. FC Lions United's Ioan Dragalina got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Deyanhur Timisoara's Marcel Vergulescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Damian Dima in the 91st minute of play. FC Lions United's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
