When Leonard Buciuman came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Blue Pills fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Leonard Buciuman couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, FC Vacarii's Isac Barbonța got a free kick in the 31st minute. Horea Frumușanu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Petrică Udup tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 37th minute of the match, Mircea Drâmba tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Petrică Udup saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. FC Vacarii's Petrică Udup proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 38th minute of the match, managed to save FC Vacarii from getting a goal against them. In the 39th minute, Eric Agachi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Blue Pills's Horea Frumușanu got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Petrică Udup made a fantastic save in the 44th minute, when Horea Frumușanu sent off a good shot on target. Ionel Urduban might have been able to make a better finish in the 46th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dragoş Gliga. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ionel Urduban ran back to his position shaking his head. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ştefan Zotincă to strike the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Blue Pills's goalkeeper Dragoş Gliga had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Isac Barbonța. In the 53rd minute Horea Frumușanu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Petrică Udup saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 54 minutes into the game, Ionel Urduban was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Vacarii's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Blue Pills the free kick. Petrică Udup made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Horea Frumușanu in the 95th minute of play. Ionel Urduban's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dragoş Gliga read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 98th minute of play.
