Spectators: 7664 (Terracing: 5749, Seating: 1762, VIP seats: 153) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Virgil Panciu started the match with the kick off. With his leg Basarab Matei managed to avoid a goal in the 5thth minute, when Fc Buzau's Alexandru Cucu fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After a rather tough play, Fc Buzau's Dorel Ciorogaru got a free kick in the 10th minute. In the 11th minute Manole Ghiciușca shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emil Enciu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 15 minutes into the game, Argo's Paul Spineanu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Emil Enciu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Eric Foltea hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. Thanks to some nice moves Cezar Amărculesei could shoot a difficult shot in the 21st minute, which Basarab Matei however easily saved by the left post. Basarab Matei made a fantastic save in the 24th minute, when Cezar Amărculesei sent off a good shot on target. Basarab Matei made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cezar Amărculesei in the 25th minute. After 28 played minutes Argo got a freekick which was hit by Gheorghe Răuțu. In the 29th minute, Virgil Panciu sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Argo's Basarab Matei didn't even have to move. 31 minutes into the match, Cezar Amărculesei notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Argo's Basarab Matei. Basarab Matei was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Cezar Amărculesei could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 41st minute of the match, but Basarab Matei made a huge save. Basarab Matei showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Virgil Panciu, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. Paul Spineanu took the ball and in the 44 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Emil Enciu. Emil Enciu dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. After the first half Argo were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Emil Enciu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Niculae Ghișe in the 57th minute. Manole Ghiciușca's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 58thth minute, Emil Enciu skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. 60 minutes into the match, Argo's goal looked a bit too open when Cezar Amărculesei came free, but Basarab Matei reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Fc Buzau's Emil Enciu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 62nd minute of the match, managed to save Fc Buzau from getting a goal against them. In the 79th minute Cezar Amărculesei shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Basarab Matei saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 87 minutes into the game, Iordache Brănescu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Argo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Fc Buzau the free kick. After 87 played minutes Argo got a freekick which was hit by Iordache Brănescu. In the 88th minute of the match Liviu Codrea shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Basarab Matei showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Basarab Matei showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cezar Amărculesei in the 90th minute of the match. 96 minutes into the match, Cezar Amărculesei had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Basarab Matei. Argo's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cezar Amărculesei was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-3. The Fc Buzau manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Argo to win.
