Nicu Grecea was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Tudor Carabulea who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 9thth minute tested the skills of Niculae Petriceanu when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 13th minute, Tudor Carabulea made a precise shot to the right of Niculae Petriceanu. Smizi's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Tudor Carabulea did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 2-1 to the left of a surprised Niculae Petriceanu 18 minutes into the match. Gică Craioveanu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Gică Craioveanu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 36th match minute, Smizi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eliodor Manole to maneuver through the defense. Gregoire Zihler recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 44th minute Tudor Carabulea shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Niculae Petriceanu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Smizi's zone, Babbis Kouvaris stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Niculae Petriceanu came out of the goal and Babbis Kouvaris tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Eliodor Manole took the ball and in the 46 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Nicu Grecea. Nicu Grecea dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-2. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-2 at half-time.

The audience was convinced that Tudor Carabulea's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Niculae Petriceanu was relentless in the 52nd minute of the game. Cezar Gherghescu hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Smizi's Cezar Gherghescu got a free kick in the 75th minute. Niculae Petriceanu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tudor Carabulea, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Babbis Kouvaris had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Babbis Kouvaris fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Niculae Petriceanu having to interfere.
