In the 19th minute of the match Cornel Axinia sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Horia Tunar skillfully saved the ball. After 22 minutes, Ştefan Huștea mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Dersida AFC and the GSBC Cluj-Napoca players grew even worse after the yellow card. Gheorghe Murgan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 23rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 24 minutes into the game, one of GSBC Cluj-Napoca:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. 26 minutes into the game, Dersida AFC's Răzvan Condeescu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Mircea Udroiu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Costin Todoran's late challenge caught a GSBC Cluj-Napoca's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Costin Todoran helped the player get up and apologised. In the 28th minute, Costin Todoran hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dersida AFC's Costin Todoran got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 40 played minutes, Dersida AFC's Liviu Pietreanu shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Mircea Udroiu came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Dersida AFC reached it. GSBC Cluj-Napoca were furious when Dumitru Barbăsură was red carded, 40 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. Costin Todoran received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Mircea Udroiu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mircea Udroiu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Costin Todoran in the 56th minute of play. 59 minutes into the match, GSBC Cluj-Napoca's goal looked a bit too open when Costin Todoran came free, but Mircea Udroiu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. GSBC Cluj-Napoca's Mircea Udroiu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Costin Todoran in the 60th minute of play. The supporters of Dersida AFC booed when GSBC Cluj-Napoca was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marin Buciuman didn't get a good kick on the ball.
