An unexpectedly hard shot by Remus Mândru in the 6th minute of play forced GSBC Cluj-Napoca's goalkeeper Mircea Udroiu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 16th minute, Remus Mândru reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Mircea Udroiu. The goal made the score 1-0. In the 22nd minute, Cazimir Dimofte got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 24 played minutes GSBC Cluj-Napoca got a freekick which was hit by Gigi Săvoiu. In the 25th minute of the match Cristian Ispas sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Mircea Udroiu skillfully saved the ball. Cazimir Dimofte's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 27thth minute, Mircea Udroiu skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Grigore Năsturel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Matei Gârdan having to interfere. Cazimir Dimofte sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 39 played minutes Silviu Mihuț rounded GSBC Cluj-Napoca's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 2-0. In the 41st minute, Marcu Ciobanu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gigi Săvoiu hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gigi Săvoiu in the 53rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Matei Gârdan saved UTA Arad from getting behind. In the 56th minute, Cornel Axinia hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 59th minute, Grigore Năsturel managed to get in a good position for a shot. GSBC Cluj-Napoca's supporters rose to their feet, but Grigore Năsturel was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Matei Gârdan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Gigi Săvoiu struck a weak shot in the 64th minute. Matei Gârdan didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for GSBC Cluj-Napoca. Cazimir Dimofte scored 3-0 in the 66th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Mircea Udroiu, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Cazimir Dimofte sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gigi Săvoiu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 73rd minute of the match, but Matei Gârdan made a huge save. After some careless play in the UTA Arad defense, Calistrat Stănciulaş kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Matei Gârdan. The UTA Arad fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Matei Gârdan should have stopped the shot. In the 85th minute of the match, Calistrat Stănciulaş tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Matei Gârdan saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Mircea Udroiu stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cazimir Dimofte's shot from short distance in the 87th minute. Mircea Udroiu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cazimir Dimofte in the 89th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Marin Buciuman during the 91st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of UTA Arad booed when GSBC Cluj-Napoca was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marin Buciuman didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mircea Udroiu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Silviu Mihuț, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. After 96 minutes of play GSBC Cluj-Napoca's Marin Buciuman was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. UTA Arad walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
