Edgar Banciu took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 12th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Mircea Udroiu. GSBC Cluj-Napoca's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Ungureni CF's Gigel Pârvan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marin Buciuman in the 13th minute of play. In the 14th minute, one of Ungureni CF:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Ungureni CF. In the 15th minute there was a penalty for GSBC Cluj-Napoca. Grigore Năsturel stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Gigel Pârvan. 2-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dinu Gherdan in the 19th minute of play forced GSBC Cluj-Napoca's goalkeeper Mircea Udroiu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Mădălin Măgureanu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ungureni CF's supporters rose to their feet, but Mădălin Măgureanu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mircea Udroiu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dinu Gherdan in the 32nd minute of play forced GSBC Cluj-Napoca's goalkeeper Mircea Udroiu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 33rd minute, GSBC Cluj-Napoca's Dumitru Barbăsură seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Dumitru Barbăsură the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of GSBC Cluj-Napoca protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Dumitru Barbăsură had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After 33 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for GSBC Cluj-Napoca! Sergiu Maghear shot the penalty kick right outside the post. 40 minutes into the game, Grigore Năsturel cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-0. Gigel Pârvan was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Grigore Năsturel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Gigel Pârvan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

If Dinu Gherdan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mircea Udroiu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mădălin Măgureanu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The GSBC Cluj-Napoca fans' excitement grew in the 63rd match minute when GSBC Cluj-Napoca's Grigore Năsturel looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. Grigore Năsturel ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 86th play minute Dinu Gherdan came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Mircea Udroiu. 4-1. Gigel Pârvan came out of the goal in the 89th minute to try and stop a shot by GSBC Cluj-Napoca's Gigi Săvoiu. But to his dismay, Gigi Săvoiu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-1.
