Gantaga's supporters rose to their feet, but Doru Vernescu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Damian Vergulescu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Damian Vergulescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dragoş Corbea in the 41st minute of play. Damian Vergulescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Doru Vernescu, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. Damian Vergulescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dragoş Corbea, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Petrică Bărboianu's late challenge caught a Gantaga's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
