But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ilie Dumitrescu couldn't finish the play. The -MXM- fans' excitement grew in the 21st match minute when -MXM-'s Ilie Dumitrescu looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Ilie Dumitrescu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Gigi Panțâru didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ilie Dumitrescu went, in the 28th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. Ilie Dumitrescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gigi Panțâru having to interfere. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ilie Dumitrescu made a kick off. Petruț Florean sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gigi Panțâru showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ilie Dumitrescu in the 53rd minute of the match. A collision led to -MXM- getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Dacian Vuşcan hit a great ball. Gigi Panțâru stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ilie Dumitrescu's shot from short distance in the 61st minute. After having played for 69 minutes, Ilie Dumitrescu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. -MXM-'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Ilie Dumitrescu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 72ndth minute of the game Ilie Dumitrescu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Gantaga's Gigi Panțâru was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 74th play minutes Ilie Dumitrescu shot 3-1, a short shot which went by Gigi Panțâru and just under the crossbar into goal. In the 77th minute, Ilie Dumitrescu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 79 minutes into the game, -MXM-'s Ilie Dumitrescu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gigi Panțâru made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-1. Doru Vernescu kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. Gantaga's Remus Hulubei was substituted for Dragoş Corbea. Ilie Dumitrescu blasted a shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Gigi Panțâru having to make a save. Ilie Dumitrescu might have been able to make a better finish in the 92nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gigi Panțâru. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ilie Dumitrescu ran back to his position shaking his head.
