Spectators: 7856 (Terracing: 5898, Seating: 1808, VIP seats: 150) When Costel Lepuș fell near the penalty area in the 9th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Republica Ploiești's protests and gave Costel Lepuș a yellow card for diving instead. After 9 played minutes Republica Ploiești got a freekick which was hit by Costel Lepuș. Emanuel Firea in the 12thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Valeriu Buzea, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dan Godeanu in the 14th minute of play forced FC Hermannstadt's goalkeeper Valeriu Buzea to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 15 minutes into the game, Edgar Vernescu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Hermannstadt's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Republica Ploiești the free kick. A collision led to FC Hermannstadt getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Edgar Vernescu hit a great ball. The supporters of FC Hermannstadt booed when Republica Ploiești was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Codrin Traianescu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cornel Ciungu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manuel Lăcătuș having to interfere. Valeriu Buzea showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Emanuel Firea in the 26th minute of the match. In the 32nd minute Nicodim Curtean shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manuel Lăcătuș saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Republica Ploiești getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Cezar Costeiantu hit a great ball. After 42 minutes of play, FC Hermannstadt's Cornel Ciungu made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Manuel Lăcătuș was left in no man's land by his defense there! Manuel Lăcătuș showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cornel Ciungu in the 47th minute of the match. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Republica Ploiești's Sebastian Hoduț was substituted for Ioan Brânza. Cezar Costeiantu kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. Manuel Lăcătuș acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 55th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Dan Mâinea. Nicodim Curtean received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Manuel Lăcătuș tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 62nd minute, Emanuel Firea ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Valeriu Buzea was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. In the 66th minute, Emanuel Firea made a precise shot to the right of Valeriu Buzea. FC Hermannstadt's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Sebastian Hoduț blasted a shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Valeriu Buzea having to make a save. In the 72nd minute, Cornel Ciungu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Dan Godeanu scored 3-1 in the 74th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Valeriu Buzea, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After a rather tough play, Republica Ploiești's Mircea Mihoc got a free kick in the 78th minute. If Dan Godeanu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Valeriu Buzea showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dan Godeanu in the 86th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Costică Codrea during the 87th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 87th minute, Costică Codrea hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Many of FC Hermannstadt's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. FC Hermannstadt may have spent more time on the ball, but Republica Ploiești were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
