Dragoş Baicu's late challenge caught a Club Sportiv Medgidia's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dragoş Baicu helped the player get up and apologised. After 2 played minutes Rudarie UFC got a freekick which was hit by Dragoş Baicu. Club Sportiv Medgidia's Stelian Hulubei got a good chance for a goal in the 6th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Stelian Hulubei received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Albert Vârjean tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 15th match minute, Rudarie UFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ionică Rădescu to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Rudarie UFC's George Hosu got a free kick in the 19th minute. A hard shot 22 in the game by Augustin Horea from a close distance when the talented Albert Vârjean managed to make a qualified save. Rudarie UFC's players were relieved. Rudarie UFC's Albert Vârjean proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 23rd minute of the match, managed to save Rudarie UFC from getting a goal against them. In the 26th minute, Dragoş Baicu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Nicu Arghirescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dragoş Baicu in the 28th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Club Sportiv Medgidia's Flavius Băieșu got a free kick in the 33rd minute. After some careless play in the Club Sportiv Medgidia defense, Dragoş Baicu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nicu Arghirescu. The Club Sportiv Medgidia fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nicu Arghirescu should have stopped the shot. With his leg Albert Vârjean managed to avoid a goal in the 42ndth minute, when Club Sportiv Medgidia's Augustin Horea fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Stelian Hulubei recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 47th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Augustin Horea stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Albert Vârjean came out of the goal in the 52nd minute to try and stop a shot by Club Sportiv Medgidia's Stelian Hulubei. But to his dismay, Stelian Hulubei quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Rudarie UFC's Albert Vârjean played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Augustin Horea in the 56th minute of play. In the 57th minute, Alin Târban hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nicu Arghirescu made a fantastic save in the 61st minute, when Flavius Trandafir sent off a good shot on target. The audience was convinced that Augustin Horea's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Albert Vârjean was relentless in the 65th minute of the game. Romeo Ungur kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. After having played for 68 minutes, Marcu Ficsinescu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rudarie UFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marcu Ficsinescu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Augustin Horea in the 73rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Albert Vârjean prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ştefan Alupulesei fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Albert Vârjean having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Augustin Horea in the 80th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Albert Vârjean prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Albert Vârjean took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Augustin Horea, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 83 minutes into the game, Sever Ţurlău was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Rudarie UFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Club Sportiv Medgidia the free kick. After 84 played minutes, Club Sportiv Medgidia's Flavius Băieșu shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Albert Vârjean came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Club Sportiv Medgidia reached it. In the 87th minute, Augustin Horea made a precise shot to the right of Albert Vârjean. Rudarie UFC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. 92 minutes into the match, Ştefan Alupulesei notched a goal, 3-1, to the right of Rudarie UFC's Albert Vârjean. Albert Vârjean was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
