Spectators: 7793 (Terracing: 5846, Seating: 1792, VIP seats: 155) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Mugurel Vasiliu took the kick off in the first half of the match. Iurie Bujor blasted a shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Gigi Șerbulescu having to make a save. When Eliodor Ţopescu fell near the penalty area in the 4th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC UNIREA's protests and gave Eliodor Ţopescu a yellow card for diving instead. After 5 played minutes FC UNIREA got a freekick which was hit by Eliodor Ţopescu. A sloppy throw-in by Denis Mănescu in the 9th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by FC UNIREA's Nistor Şandru. After 10 minutes of play, Tineretul Arad's Mugurel Vasiliu made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gigi Șerbulescu was left in no man's land by his defense there! 16 minutes had been played when some careless play by Tineretul Arad's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Nicu Hălmăgeanu was slow to take the kick. During this time FC UNIREA's players had a chance to rest. The corner led FC UNIREA's Nicu Hălmăgeanu to fire away a dangerous shot which Iustin Dudea despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After 17 played minutes Tineretul Arad got a freekick which was hit by Valentin Cruceru. After 19 played minutes FC UNIREA got a freekick which was hit by Nistor Şandru. 26 minutes into the match, Tineretul Arad's goal looked a bit too open when Cătălin Iriza came free, but Iustin Dudea reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gigi Șerbulescu came out of the goal in the 31st minute to try and stop a shot by Tineretul Arad's Mugurel Vasiliu. But to his dismay, Mugurel Vasiliu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. In the 34thth minute of the game Nicu Hălmăgeanu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Tineretul Arad's Iustin Dudea was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Iurie Bujor sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When FC UNIREA's Cătălin Iriza in the 37th minute got a chance for a shot 37th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Tineretul Arad's goalie prevented a goal. Cătălin Iriza blasted a shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Iustin Dudea having to make a save. A collision led to FC UNIREA getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Marcel Moisil hit a great ball. When Dinu Curteanu fell near the penalty area in the 42nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC UNIREA's protests and gave Dinu Curteanu a yellow card for diving instead. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 42nd minute of the game. One of FC UNIREA:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Tineretul Arad:s goal. When the match had been going on for 44 minutes, Tineretul Arad's Felix Negrescu got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Gigi Șerbulescu. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Mugurel Vasiliu scored 4-0 in the 51st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Gigi Șerbulescu, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Cătălin Iriza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Iurie Bujor received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Gigi Șerbulescu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. FC UNIREA's Gigi Șerbulescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Iurie Bujor in the 64th minute of play. When Iurie Bujor came up free with the goalie in the 66th minute, the Tineretul Arad fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Iurie Bujor couldn't finish the play. Gigi Șerbulescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Iurie Bujor in the 69th minute of play. After having played for 70 minutes, Iurie Bujor managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tineretul Arad's supporters crossed their fingers, but Iurie Bujor was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Mugurel Vasiliu struck a weak shot in the 74th minute. Gigi Șerbulescu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tineretul Arad. After a rather tough play, Tineretul Arad's Mugurel Vasiliu got a free kick in the 76th minute. Gigi Șerbulescu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Iurie Bujor in the 78th minute of the match. In the 80th minute Cătălin Iriza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Iustin Dudea saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 89 minutes into the match, FC UNIREA's goal looked a bit too open when Iurie Bujor came free, but Gigi Șerbulescu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 91 played minutes Tineretul Arad got a freekick which was hit by Adam Rizea. After a rather tough play, Tineretul Arad's Iurie Bujor got a free kick in the 93rd minute. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Tineretul Arad had won after a very even match.
