Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Cătălin Iriza started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. After 7 played minutes Basarab Grama rounded FC UNIREA's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-0. Nicu Hălmăgeanu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Mihail Daraban tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Cătălin Iriza's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Mihail Daraban was relentless in the 13th minute of the game. Mihail Daraban took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cătălin Iriza, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nicu Hălmăgeanu struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. Mihail Daraban didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC UNIREA. In the 20th minute Basarab Grama shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gigi Șerbulescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With an all-out effort, FC Vointa Sibiu's Gigi Șerbulescu threw himself towards the right post 21 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Basarab Grama, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 22nd minute, Nicu Hălmăgeanu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Mihail Daraban came out of the goal in the 24th minute to try and stop a shot by FC UNIREA's Cătălin Iriza. But to his dismay, Cătălin Iriza quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. FC UNIREA's Gigi Șerbulescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Basarab Grama in the 29th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Basarab Grama in the 30th minute of play forced FC UNIREA's goalkeeper Gigi Șerbulescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ştefan Zmeu got free with Gigi Șerbulescu in the 35th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 37th minute Cătălin Iriza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mihail Daraban saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gigi Șerbulescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Basarab Grama in the 38th minute of play. 40 minutes into the match, Ştefan Zmeu notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of FC UNIREA's Gigi Șerbulescu. Gigi Șerbulescu was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The FC UNIREA fans' excitement grew in the 44th match minute when FC UNIREA's Cătălin Iriza looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. The first half was very even, with the score at 2-2 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Basarab Grama to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 50th match minute, FC UNIREA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Emilian Omescu to maneuver through the defense. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nistor Neața during the 56th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Nistor Neața kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. After some careless play in the FC Vointa Sibiu defense, Nicu Hălmăgeanu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Mihail Daraban. The FC Vointa Sibiu fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mihail Daraban should have stopped the shot. If Nicu Hălmăgeanu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Nistor Şandru hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. When the match had gone on for 65 minutes, Basarab Grama put it in 3-3 from a short distance just to the right of Gigi Șerbulescu. Gigi Șerbulescu came out of the goal in the 68th minute to try and stop a shot by FC Vointa Sibiu's Basarab Grama. But to his dismay, Basarab Grama quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-3. If Basarab Grama had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of FC UNIREA booed when FC Vointa Sibiu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Basarab Grama didn't get a good kick on the ball. Basarab Grama received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Gigi Șerbulescu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 81 minutes, Nistor Şandru mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC UNIREA and the FC Vointa Sibiu players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, FC UNIREA's Nistor Şandru got a free kick in the 81st minute. Cătălin Iriza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mihail Daraban having to interfere. Nicu Hălmăgeanu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Mihail Daraban tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Basarab Grama took the ball and in the 91 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Gigi Șerbulescu. Gigi Șerbulescu dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-3. In the 94th minute, Ştefan Zmeu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC Vointa Sibiu fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 6-3. FC Vointa Sibiu's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
