Florin Ignătoiu started the match with the kick off. After a rather tough play, Vermis's Ştefan Grigore got a free kick in the 2nd minute. Stelian Mardarescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ion Aldulea, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ion Aldulea sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Vermis getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Ion Aldulea hit a great ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gavril Lovinescu during the 9th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Vermis booed when CSMS Iaşi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gavril Lovinescu didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 20 played minutes CSMS Iaşi got a freekick which was hit by Laurențiu Calini. After having played for 25 minutes, Ion Aldulea managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vermis's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ion Aldulea was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Ştefan Grigore came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Vermis fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ştefan Grigore couldn't finish the play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Laurențiu Calini got free with Cosmin Ilarie in the 33rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 36th minute Nechifor Hănescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stelian Mardarescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. CSMS Iaşi's Florin Ignătoiu suffered a sprained foot after 38 minutes and couldn't finish the game. After 38 minutes, Nichifor Ştefănescu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Vermis and the CSMS Iaşi players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of CSMS Iaşi booed when Vermis was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nichifor Ştefănescu didn't get a good kick on the ball. 44 minutes into the match, Ion Aldulea notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of CSMS Iaşi's Stelian Mardarescu. Stelian Mardarescu was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 47th minute Ştefan Grigore shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stelian Mardarescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ion Aldulea made a kick off. The crowd rose to their feet as Ştefan Grigore kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Stelian Mardarescu. That made the score 0-2 in the 56 minute of play. Ştefan Grigore struck a weak shot in the 59th minute. Stelian Mardarescu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Vermis. Cosmin Ilarie showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristi Zbârlea in the 63rd minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 64th minute, Ion Aldulea managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vermis's supporters rose to their feet, but Ion Aldulea was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Stelian Mardarescu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ştefan Grigore recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 68th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Stelian Mardarescu was a little too slow when Ştefan Grigore got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 69th minute. The score was now 0-3. Laurențiu Calini kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. After having played for 81 minutes, Nichifor Ştefănescu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vermis's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nichifor Ştefănescu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ion Aldulea's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Stelian Mardarescu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 94th minute of play. Nichifor Ştefănescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stelian Mardarescu having to interfere. Vermis's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
