The audience was convinced that George Pitiș's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Iustin Erbașu was relentless in the 3rd minute of the game. Panait Unciuleanu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Matei Rotariu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from George Isaia in the 23rd minute of play. The referee felt a red card was in order, 25 minutes into the game, when Luca Marinică put in a rough tackle. In a very dangerous position, a player in Steaua Somcuta MM fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 24th minute. Penalty! The referee gave Univ. Tehnică Cluj-Napoca a penalty, 27 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Grigore Păvăloae, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Steaua Somcuta MM's Matei Rotariu. 0-2. The supporters of Steaua Somcuta MM booed when Univ. Tehnică Cluj-Napoca was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. George Isaia didn't get a good kick on the ball. Iustin Erbașu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dacian Săvulescu in the 33rd minute of play. After 36 played minutes Univ. Tehnică Cluj-Napoca got a freekick which was hit by Marcel Costeiantu. In the 37th minute, Panait Unciuleanu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Iustin Erbașu was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Panait Unciuleanu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Iustin Erbașu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpected shot in the 47th minute by Panait Unciuleanu got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

In the 55th minute Panait Unciuleanu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Iustin Erbașu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Panait Unciuleanu in the 58th minute of play forced Univ. Tehnică Cluj-Napoca's goalkeeper Iustin Erbașu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 62 minutes into the game, Dacian Săvulescu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Steaua Somcuta MM's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Univ. Tehnică Cluj-Napoca the free kick. When Panait Unciuleanu came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the Steaua Somcuta MM fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Panait Unciuleanu couldn't finish the play. 66 minutes into the match, Univ. Tehnică Cluj-Napoca's goal looked a bit too open when Iordache Pârvuță came free, but Iustin Erbașu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 74th minute Panait Unciuleanu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Iustin Erbașu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 97th minute, Cezar Baldovin reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Matei Rotariu. The goal made the score 2-3. Although Steaua Somcuta MM had been in control for most of the match, Univ. Tehnică Cluj-Napoca still came away with the win.
