In the 19th minute, Cosmin Alexiu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Gimbas fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Cosmin Alexiu might have been able to make a better finish in the 22nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Iustin Erbașu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cosmin Alexiu ran back to his position shaking his head. 24 minutes into the game, one of Univ. Tehnică Cluj-Napoca:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Șerban Cioacă struck a weak shot in the 97th minute. Iustin Erbașu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gimbas. Gimbas played a much better game than Univ. Tehnică Cluj-Napoca and deserved their victory. The Univ. Tehnică Cluj-Napoca players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
