When Petru Huștea came up free with the goalie in the 13th minute, the MZ Rapid fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Petru Huștea couldn't finish the play. Portaresti FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 15th minute, when Petru Huștea scored to the left of an out of position Corneliu Boerescu, making the score, 1-0. Portaresti FC's Corneliu Boerescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Petru Huștea in the 24th minute of play. If Niculae Leu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Petru Huștea sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 30 minutes into the match, MZ Rapid's goal looked a bit too open when Manuel Horațiu came free, but Cătălin Chinezu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 34th minute, Petru Huștea left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The MZ Rapid fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. In the 51st minute, Cristian Ficsinescu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 55th minute Manuel Horațiu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cătălin Chinezu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Portaresti FC's zone, Petru Huștea stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Corneliu Boerescu came out of the goal and Petru Huștea tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. MZ Rapid's Petru Huștea got a good chance for a goal in the 62nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to MZ Rapid getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Octavian Caragea hit a great ball. After 71 minutes, Mircea Grozăvescu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Portaresti FC and the MZ Rapid players grew even worse after the yellow card. When Niculae Leu came up free with the goalie in the 80th minute, the MZ Rapid fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Niculae Leu couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, MZ Rapid's Sabin Iureș got a free kick in the 83rd minute. Petru Huștea fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Corneliu Boerescu having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mihăiţă Hrușcă got free with Cătălin Chinezu in the 92nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Niculae Leu kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. MZ Rapid's Cătălin Chinezu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 96th minute of the match, managed to save MZ Rapid from getting a goal against them.
