In the 4th minute of the match, Ilie Mihele got a very nice opportunity to score, but Horia Marinescu was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. After a rather tough play, MANCHESTER CITY's Panait Apostu got a free kick in the 7th minute. Marcel Uncheşelu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dumitru Bălășoiu in the 10th minute of the match. 11 minutes into the game, Horea Strungă was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. MANCHESTER CITY's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Capotestii FC the free kick. Marcel Uncheşelu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vintilă Ciocan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Capotestii FC's zone, Ilie Mihele stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Horia Marinescu came out of the goal and Ilie Mihele tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 18th minute, Iustinian Gurlui hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Capotestii FC's Dumitru Bălășoiu got a good chance for a goal in the 20th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Dumitru Bălășoiu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. A collision led to Capotestii FC getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Damian Şoiman hit a great ball. 29 minutes into the match, Capotestii FC's Dumitru Bălășoiu sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Marcel Uncheşelu narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Capotestii FC's Vintilă Ciocan got a good chance for a goal in the 30th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 32 minutes into the game, Călin Amarandei recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Horia Marinescu. Călin Amarandei showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. After having played for 36 minutes, Dumitru Bălășoiu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Capotestii FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dumitru Bălășoiu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 40th match minute, Capotestii FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gigi Vătăşel to maneuver through the defense. Dumitru Bălășoiu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Marcel Uncheşelu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vintilă Ciocan in the 46th minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ilie Mihele was the one to do the kick off. Marcel Uncheşelu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Vintilă Ciocan in the 51st minute. If Dumitru Bălășoiu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 66th minute Ilie Mihele shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Horia Marinescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dumitru Bălășoiu blasted a shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Marcel Uncheşelu having to make a save. Horia Marinescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ilie Mihele in the 72nd minute of play. Capotestii FC's Dumitru Bălășoiu got a good chance for a goal in the 78th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Vintilă Ciocan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dumitru Bălășoiu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcel Uncheşelu having to interfere. In the 93rd minute, Horea Strungă hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Many of Capotestii FC's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Capotestii FC may have spent more time on the ball, but MANCHESTER CITY were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
