With an extended leg and a bit of luck Isac Râznicu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a defensive mix-up in Steaua's zone, Eric Dascălu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Isac Râznicu came out of the goal and Eric Dascălu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 14 minutes into the game, Felix Reznic recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Isac Râznicu. Felix Reznic showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Horia Cretan in the 16th minute of play forced RapidBarcelona's goalkeeper Narcis Lucan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match had gone on for 18 minutes, Felix Reznic took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Isac Râznicu to make any attempt to save it. After some careless play in the RapidBarcelona defense, Horia Cretan kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Narcis Lucan. The RapidBarcelona fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Narcis Lucan should have stopped the shot. Sergiu Stănoiu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Isac Râznicu having to interfere. RapidBarcelona's Narcis Lucan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Teodor Cosâmbescu in the 39th minute of play. 40 minutes into the game, Steaua's Teodor Cosâmbescu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Narcis Lucan made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-2. 45 minutes into the game, Ivan Mumuleanu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. RapidBarcelona's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Steaua the free kick. In the 45th minute, Ivan Mumuleanu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Horia Cretan came up free with the goalie in the 47th minute, the Steaua fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Horia Cretan couldn't finish the play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Nicodim Orădan made the kick off in the second half. RapidBarcelona's Narcis Lucan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nicodim Orădan in the 51st minute of play. Narcis Lucan made an important save on a dangerous shot by Horia Cretan in the 53rd minute. Narcis Lucan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nicodim Orădan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ivan Mumuleanu got his second yellow card in the match during the 66th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. In the 66th minute, Ivan Mumuleanu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Horia Cretan fell near the penalty area in the 68th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Steaua's protests and gave Horia Cretan a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of RapidBarcelona booed when Steaua was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Horia Cretan didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Horia Cretan got free with Narcis Lucan in the 92nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Felix Reznic had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
